Acting (law) facts for kids
In law, when someone is said to be acting in a position it can mean that, the person is only occupying the position temporarily to ensure continuity.
Examples of acting positions include:
- Acting mayor
- Acting governor
- Acting president
- Acting prime minister
- Acting President of the United States
- Acting President of Israel
- Acting President of Pakistan
- Acting President of Poland
In the United States, the rules for appointment of acting officials are covered in many cases by the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998.
