Commodore is the common name for Commodore International Limited, a U.S. computer and electronics manufacturing company. Headquarters were in West Chester, Pennsylvania. In the 1960s and 70s they made adding machines and calculators. This company was important in the development of the homepersonal computer in the late 1970s and 1980s. Commodore developed the first color computer sold under $300, known as the VIC-20 in 1981. The company sold about 22 million Commodore 64 machines, introduced in 1982.
