East Sparta is a village in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Canton–Massillon Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History
East Sparta was originally called Sparta, and under the latter name was laid out in 1815, and named after the ancient city of Sparta, in Greece.
On June 3, 2015 East Sparta's 70-year-old water tower was dismantled.
Geography
East Sparta is located at 40°40′12″N 81°21′13″W / 40.67000°N 81.35361°W (40.669893, -81.353680), along Nimishillen Creek, a short distance north of the Tuscarawas County border.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.68 square miles (4.35 km2), all land.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 819 people, 328 households, and 229 families living in the village. The population density was 487.5 inhabitants per square mile (188.2/km2). There were 349 housing units at an average density of 207.7 per square mile (80.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 99.3% White, 0.2% African American, and 0.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 328 households, of which 29.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.5% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.2% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.95.
The median age in the village was 42.3 years. 24.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.4% were from 25 to 44; 28.7% were from 45 to 64; and 17.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 49.7% male and 50.3% female.
