Eiryaku (永暦) was a Japanese era name (年号,, nengō,, lit. "year name") after Heiji and before Ōhō. This period started in January 1160 and ended in September 1161. During this time, the emperor was Nijō-tennō (二条天皇).

Events of the Eiryaku era

  • 1160 (Eiryaku 1): Minamoto no Yoshitomo (1123–1180), was killed in a campaign to overthrow the imperial chancellor, Taira no Kiyomori; and his wife, Tokiwa Gozen was forced to flee Heian-kyō (Kyoto) with her three sons.
  • 1161 (Eiryaku 2): The emperor married widow of Emperor Konoe.
