Fernie is a city in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Fernie is in the East Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia.

The population of Fernie was 4 811 in 2011. The mayor of Fernie is Mary Giuliano.

Fernie is the only city-class municipality in Canada that is completely encircled by the Rocky Mountains. The Lizard Range in Fernie has the Fernie Alpine Resort, which is one of the largest ski resorts in Canada, as well as Island Lake Catskiing, which is a resort. The city is known for its mining history. Mount Fernie, Mount Klauer, The Three Sisters and Mount Proctor are on the north of Fernie. The fictional Kodiak Valley ski resort in the 2010 movie Hot Tub Time Machine was filmed at the Fernie Alpine Resort in Downtown Fernie.

Fernie has an ice hockey team, the Fernie Ghostriders which play in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
