Description: The Hotel Tivoli, located at 53 Broadway at the corner of North Road in Tivoli, New York, was built as the Madalin Hotel by Harry Hoffman in 1910, replacing an earlier hotel on the site. "Madalin" was a reference to the village of Madalin, which merged with the hamlet of Tivoli (or Upper Red Hook) to form the village of Tivoli in 1872. In 1915, Patrick Morey bought the hotel and renamed it the Morey Hotel. Morey also owned the Potts Hotel across the street at 54 Broadway at the corner of Montgomer Street. Morey died in 1928, and his brother Thomas took over running the hotel. After that, the Bayly family, a branch of the Moreys, ran a tavern which occupied the first floor, but they did not rent out rooms. Around 2007, the building was purchased from the Baylys and renovated and restored. For several years, the new owners ran a restaurant on the first floor and rented out rooms on the upper floors. In 2013, the painters Brice and Helen Marden, who own the Rose Hill estate in Tivoli, bought the property and remodeled it, renaming it the Hotel Tivoli, opening a restaurant called "The Corner" on the first floor.
