Description: This is "Spindletop" in Elkmont, Tennessee, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located on Little River Road (now the Little River Trail), built by Colonel W. B. Townsend, founder of the Little River Lumber Company, in the early 1900s. W.B. and Alice Townsend built their primary residence across the road that later burned, along with a number of cottages initially rented out to vacationers by Mrs. Townsend after the Colonel's death. The cottages along Little River were sometimes referred to as "Millionaire's Row."
