Description: Alabaster chalice, original in alabaster (calcite), h. 18.3 cm, w. 28.3 cm. This chalice, in the form of an open white lotus blossom, was found directly behind the blocked-up entrance to the antechamber. The vessel is carved from a single block of calcite and its handles are shaped like the buds of a different type of lotus. Two figures representing the god Heh sit on the blossoms holding the symbol for life and the notched palm rib representing million years, promising Tutankhamun that he will live and reign as King forever. This wish for an eternal, happy life is reiterated in the inscription along the rim of the cup.
