Description: Gallaudet Memorial sculpted by Daniel Chester French (1925), located at the American School for the Deaf, West Hartford, Connecticut. This monument depicts Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and the young Alice Cogswell signing the letter A. The base of the monument contains the inscription FRIEND TEACHER BENEFACTOR. This is a replica of the memorial located on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. that was originally sculpted by Daniel Chester French in the late 1880's.
