Description: The Anvil Creek Gold Discovery Site, one of the sites that composes the Cape Nome Mining District Discovery Sites, a National Historic Landmark. Located along Anvil Creek on the Seward Peninsula, the Anvil Creek Site lies near the city of Nome in the Nome Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. One of the destinations of a gold rush shortly before 1900. The Anvil Creek Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 15 October 1966, and the Mining District as a whole was designated a National Historic Landmark on 2 June 1978.
