Description: Aslackby Decoy Farmhouse, Aslackby Fen The farm derived its name from the duck decoy that was located 300m south of the farmhouse. This particular decoy could be credited with having supplied many thousands of wildfowl a year during the 16th and 17th centuries up until the drainage of the fens which diverted the water courses that fed into the decoy and ultimately deprived the "fenman" of a lucrative source of income. Both Dowsby Fen to the south and Neslam Fen to the north had duck decoys located on them which in turn gave the name "Decoy Farm" to farms on both those fens. Very little evidence of the decoy remains, however a faint outline can be detected from the air in the form crop and soil markings when observed from the air. Evidence of settlement at this location from the Romano-British and earlier has been found by the current owner and English Heritage.
