Description: The 1911 built LGOC B-type bus, number B340 (reg. LA 9928), designed by Frank Searle & built and operated by the London General Omnibus Company, owned by the London Transport Museum, and pictured on the London to Brighton run, Sunday 7th May 2006. "B340 has been owned by the London Transport Museum since it was taken out of service in the 1920s. It saw service in the First World War taking troops to the trenches of France. The London Transport Museum is currently closed for an extensive makeover and so the opportunity was taken to take it on the road for the first time in 56 years. Last seen by me at the services on the A23, it was making steady progress back home at 6pm on Sunday at about 25 miles an hour. A very rare opportunity to see a very rare beast. RM1, a celebrity vehicle in it's own right, was reduced to providing service as a tender vehicle for the day and one poor unfortunate was given the job of following the B Type for 70 miles to Brighton. And back!".
