The park includes the 1922 "Hollyhock House" , the first Los Angeles project of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It was commissioned by Aline Barnsdall, and by 1927 she donated most of Olive Hill and the Hollyhock buildings to the City of Los Angeles for an art center and park. The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery is Visible in the image on the left top Children's, Hollywood Presbyterian, and Kaiser-Permanente hospitals near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Sunset Boulevard. At top right is the West Coast Center Scientology building (dark blue), formerly the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Hollywood Boulevard runs along the northern (near-side) of the park, and provides access to its parking areas. Vermont Avenue runs along the eastern side.
