Description: Vertical photographic-reconnaissance aerial of Cagny, south-east of Caen, France following a daylight attack on German fortified positions by aircraft of Bomber Command on the morning of 18 July 1944, in support of Operation GOODWOOD. 650 tons of bombs were dropped on this strongly-defended village in ten minutes, most of them fitted with instantaneous fuzes so as to minimise cratering which might impede the British armoured advance.
