Description: Calcite, Aragonite, Sulphur Locality: Agrigento Province, Sicily, Italy (Locality at mindat.org) Fine example of this unique pseudomorph from the sulfur mines at Agrigento, Sicily. What is exceptional here is the sheer beauty of the piece, and elegance of the specimen overall - most of these are big clunkers or small crystals on big plates with little relief. this piece, though, is one of the finest for quality I have seen out there. It is old material, too...1800s. This specimen contains several well formed milky white casts, most of which are at least partially hollow, and are made up of many small sharp calcite crystals. Some minor sulfur is also present on the piece. Ex. George Vaux Jr. collection according to Hauck (but no label survives). Hauck collection label included. 8.5 x 7.3 x 5.2 cm
