Description: Calcite, Mottramite Locality: Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia (Locality at mindat.org) Size: small cabinet, 8.8 x 7.3 x 4.3 cm Calcite with Mottramite A stunning specimen in person, the pics here do not do it justice! Colorless, glassy and gemmy rhombs of calcite, to 3 cm across, are partially covered by velvety, rich green mottramite. The mottramite hangs like drapery down the calcite cluster and in person looks much more "lively" (for lack of a better word), than the flat green smear it looks like in the photos here. The color contrast is wonderful as is the quality of the specimen overall. This is the classic Tsyumeb calcite style, but so interesting overall, it really jumps out in person.
