Description: Portrait of a Merchant, formerly thought to be the theolgian Theodore de Bréze. "The sitter has traditionally been identified as the eminent theologian Theodore Beza (1519–1605).... This identification has now been discounted, however: the sitter’s dress indicates that he is a wealthy bourgeois merchant, rather than a man of learning."[1]
