Description: Well now. This is without a shadow of doubt the luckiest picture I've ever taken. The date was 5th June 1994, and D6535 was working a Waterloo - Weymouth Quay charter, in connection with celebrations being held in Weymouth to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the D-Day landings. The train ran first to Weymouth Town station, to allow passengers to leave the train if they wanted pictures of it working down to the Quay, where all would rejoin later in the day for the run back to London. Having visited the Weymouth Quay branch many times before, for a change I chose this view looking across the water from Trinity Road. We were waiting there for some time for the train to appear, and whilst waiting we learned that en:Concorde was expected to perform a fly-past along the beach. The train finally arrived best part of an hour late, and just as it passed there was the most ear-splitting noise as Concorde roared into view, directly above the locomotive, evidently having arced along the beach and then performed a sharp right turn to fly over the town and away. To this day I'm amazed that this shot is level, correctly timed and not blurred :o)
