Description: The arms were granted on May 31, 1979. They combine the lion from the old arms (district Rotenburg (Hannover)) with the arms of the former district of Bremervörde, which is derived from the arms of the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen. The two crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter.
