Description: Dandridge McRae in the uniform of the Arkansas Guards, a volunteer militia company from White County. McRae was commissioned captain of the company in September 1860 Note: Alan Thompson of the Prairie Grove State Park Museum, provided this great photo of Dandridge McRea in what appears to be a pre-war militia uniform of the Arkansas Guards, a volunteer militia company formed in the 21st Arkansas Militia Regiment, from White County, which was later commanded by John C. McCauley and apparently became Co. K, 7th Arkansas Infantry. McRea was commissioned captain of this company on 12 September 1860. McRea later rose to the rank of Brigadier General in the Confederate Army. Photo donated by the granddaughter of General McCrea to the Prairie Grove State Park Museum.
