Description: (Left) Archbishop Desmond Tutu, South Africa (Right) Sally Tanner, El Monte, state representative from the 60th District in the California State Assembly. In January of 1986, Nobel Prize winner Archbishop Tutu visited San Francisco and spoke at Stanford University about apartheid in South Africa. During this trip he visited the California State Legislature where this photograph with Sally Tanner was taken by a U.S. Government photographer as part of Bishop Tutu's tour of California. Other politicians were photographed as part of this series. A print of the photograph was framed and given to Sally Tanner. This is my photograph of her copy, color corrected, contrast corrected, sharpened and cropped.
