Description: Edward Everard's Palace, Broad Street This beautiful Art Nouveau building, designed by Henry Williams and built in 1900-01, belonged to the former Edward Everard printing works. The mural, designed by W J Neatby of Doulton & Co, is made from Carrara-Ware marble tiles. The figures in the mural are the printers Gutenberg, who introduced moveable type printing to Europe in 1439, and William Morris, the insigator of the 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement and the founder of the Kelmscott Press in 1891. The Spirit of Literature and a woman holding up a lamp and a mirror to represent Light and Truth can be seen in the centre. Edward Everard designed the typeface in which his name is written. The building is now used as offices for RBS, an insurance firm.
