Description: "I'm not so concerned about the future of art; I'm concerned about the future of the world," Elaine deKooning, distinguished American painter, said in an interview during her recent visit to RIT. Ms. deKooning was on campus for two days to work with art students. Her visit was arranged by Philip Bornarth, chairman, fine arts, faculty member who met deKooning while working as a master printer at the Tamaring Lithography Workshop in New Mexico. Well-known for her portraits of John F, Kennedy, Ms. deKooning lives in New York City where she has 3600 sq. ft. of studio space. "In New York where everything is so crowded you feel a need to have a large space to work in," she said.
