Description: Monument in white marble by Richard Westmacott to General Ralph Abercromby, 1734-1801, in St Paul's Cathedral, London. Monument depicts Abercromby being fatally wounded, on horseback, at the Battle of Alexandria with a kilted member of the 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot supporting him, above a dying French soldier to indicate the British victory. The sculptural group is on a pedestal flanked by two sphinxes, all on a plinth.
