Description: Gerrards Cross station, 1994. View NW from the footbridge, towards Prins Risborough etc.: ex-GW&GC Joint Railway, Paddington/Marylebone - High Wycombe - Princes Risborough - Banbury, Birmingham etc. (GW)/Leicester - Sheffield (GC). The ex-GC main line was closed 5/9/66. From March 1967, following the electrification of the WCML from Euston, the Paddington - Birmingham services were cut back progressively, then Birmingham trains were diverted via Oxford until 1980. Since then direct London - Banbury - Birmingham (Moor Street) services have run only to/from Marylebone. Until c. 1970 there were Fast lines between the Platform lines. The new Tesco Tunnel over the station would be largely behind the photographer here. The Up train is a Class 165 'Turbo' DMU on a Birmingham (Moor Street) - Marylebone service.
