Description: (4288 x 2848) The South Kaibab Trail crosses the Colorado River on this narrow foot bridge 440 feet/ 134 m across and 70 feet/ 21 m above the water. Access to Bright Angel Campground and Phantom Ranch is via this bridge, built in 1928. NPS Photo by Erin Whittaker. In total, it is a 21 mile/ 34 km hike from South Rim To North Rim," with a vertical descent - followed by a climb - of 1 mile/ 1.6 km.
