Description: This stone marks the final resting place of Glenalvin J Goodridge, Jr. (1860-1928), his wife Virginia E. (Brown) Goodridge (1864-1947), and his mother Rhoda, who had remarried and was laid to rest as Rhoda C. Rayno. The marker was erected in Lebanon Cemetery on N. George St. in York, Pennsylvania. Glen was the only surviving son of early York photographer Glenalvin J. Goodridge, and the grandson of abolitionists William C. and Emily (Evalina Wallace) Goodridge. Glen's obituary indicated that he died at 7:20 PM on April 2, 1928, at the age of 67, following an illness and complications of disease. He was a barber at the time, and had been a member of Faith Presbyterian Church as well as a charter member of the local colored lodge of Odd Fellows, the Hand-in-hand-lodge. In addition to his wife, he was survived by a sister, Mrs. Emily J. Blay, Baltimore, and two nieces, Mrs. Irene Blay, Baltimore, and Mrs. Edna Bennet, Lawn Side, N.J. Virginia E. Goodridge died in early May, 1947 at the age of 84. She was survived by her brother, Harry W. Brown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
