Description: This images shows, how a shepherd moon clears his orbit of material and rearranges them in two planetary rings. If material is before or behind the shepherd moon, these particles get accelerated by the gravity of the shepherd moon. In case, the particle gets accelerated on it's movement around the planet, the particle reaches a higher orbit around the planet, because it has gained energy. In case, it is decelerated, the particle loses energy and falls to a lower orbit around the planet.
