Description: Here is a question I’ve been wondering for some time, although I could not find any official data. The numbers of uploads reported hereafter concern PUBLIC PHOTOS ONLY, i.e. private photo or other type of material like videos are not accounted. A few requests show that a vast majority of the uploaded material happens to be “public photo” anyway. I compiled these results using the data obtained from the " Flickr API. For those interested, the code is available on my " Github. Since Flickr started in 2004, until December 2017, the number of uploads sums up to 6.47 billion photos, although Flickr announced they reached 6 billion in August 2011. Either the Flickr API does not report all uploads ever, or the number of private photos and other material (presentations, videos) is higher than what would be expected. Or they were a bit optimistic ;-). SUMMARY NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2017 - 597 million (596,704,278), - 50 million per month in average, - 1.63 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2016 - 612 million (611,822,556), - 51 million per month in average, - 1.68 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2015 - 729 million (728,891,005), - 60.7 million per month in average, - 2 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2014 - 718 million (718,294,037), - 59.8 million per month in average, - 1.97 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2013 - 680 million, - 56.7 million per month in average, - 1.86 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2012 - 556 million, - 46.3 million per month in average, - 1.52 million per day in average. NUMBER OF PUBLIC PHOTOS UPLOADED IN 2011 - 575 million, - 47.9 million per month in average, - 1.57 million per day in average.
