Even though that IUCN marks Tararuas in orange (meaning "extant / resident"), from this map the mountain range has been deleted as whio hasn't been residing in Tararuas for decades The map now shows similar distribution as Handbook of Australian, New Zealand & Antarctic Birds, see the sources below
