Description: Wooden house known as "Ishōan" (倚松庵) in Kobe, Hyogo prefecture, Japan. It was named by the Japanese author Jun'ichirō Tanizaki after his beloved wife Matsuko (松子). Originally built in 1929, Tanizaki lived there from November 1936 through November 1943, during which period the renowned novel "Sasameyuki" (English title: "The Makioka Sisters") was partly written. In 1990 "Ishōan" was temporarily dismantled and re-built on the nearest different location in Kobe for the historical preservation. It is currently open to visitors every Saturday and Sunday, 10:00-16:00, admission free. For more information, see Ishoan's official website (Japanese).
