Butt's Ferry costs 20p to cross the river. It needs to be a fairly modest charge as, for the last ten years, Cricklepit Bridge, which is about 150 metres upstream, has allowed pedestrians to cross the river without a fee. According to the same source, there has been a ferry here since at least 1641, but it required a public enquiry to retain it in 1973. The ferry is operated by pulling it along a cable across the river. The view is from above the sandstone cliff alongside the Quay, from the lawn in front of Colleton Crescent.
