Description: A color-coded skull diagram of Lesothosaurus diagnosticus. Skull is a composite of multiple specimens, primarily NHMUK PV RU B23 but also several other specimens. Some aspects of the skull anatomy are influenced by individual variation, including snout length, orbit proportions, and jugal participation in the antorbital fossa. Scale was not provided due to the wide variation in size among this species and its possible synonyms. Dotted lines indicate missing bone or areas of poor preservation. Detail does not include tooth serrations. This diagram was commissioned for another person and I declare no conflict of interest in its development. Consulted sources: "Lesothosaurus, “Fabrosaurids,” and the early evolution of Ornithischia" (Sereno, 1991) "Nearly complete skull of Lesothosaurus (Dinosauria: Ornithischia) from the Upper Elliot Formation (Lower Jurassic: Hettangian) of Lesotho" (Knoll, 2002) "New skull of Lesothosaurus (Dinosauria: Ornithischia) from the Upper Elliot Formation (Lower Jurassic) of southern Africa" (Knoll, 2002) "Basal Ornithischia" (Norman, Witmer, and Weishampel, 2004) "Digital preparation and osteology of the skull of Lesothosaurus diagnosticus (Ornithischia: Dinosauria)" (Porro, Witmer, and Barrett, 2015) "New specimens of the basal ornithischian dinosaur Lesothosaurus diagnosticus Galton, 1978 from the Early Jurassic of South Africa" (Barrett et al., 2016) "Digital reconstruction of the mandible of an adult Lesothosaurus diagnosticus with insight into the tooth replacement process and diet" (Sciscio et al., 2017)
