Description: The first flare ever seen from a brown dwarf. For the first 9 hours and 36 minutes of the observation, no X-rays were detected from Brown Dwarf LP 944-20 (left). Then the brown dwarf turned on with a bright X-ray flare (right) that gradually diminished over the last few hours of the observation.
