Description: Máire Rua O'Brien of Leamaneh Castle (later of Dromoland Castle). According to "The Story of Máire Ruadh" by Mary Hanley (North Munster Antiquarian Journal, Volume 33, Issue 4, page 24, 1991) this is one of three known portraits of Máire Rua O'Brien. All by unknown artists. This portrait has reputedly been at Dromoland Castle since 1685. An image of this portrait is included in "The Early Castles at Dromoland: Some Historical Notes" by Martin Breen and Ristéard Ua Cróinín (The Other Clare, Vol 43, 2019).
