Description: Le départ à Paris souhaité par Maria a un coût important, que le père de Maria ne peut pas assumer seul, d’autant que Bronislawa veut elle aussi partir faire ses études à Paris, à la Faculté de médecine. Les deux sœurs font un pacte : Maria s’engage comme gouvernante et économise de l’argent pour financer les études de sa sœur en France. En contrepartie, une fois Bronislawa devenue médecin, elle paiera les études de sa cadette.
