Description: Marker at the site of the cabin of John McCormick, located along the White River at the end of the Indiana Central Canal in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. McCormick, who settled at the site in the 1810s, was one of the first settlers in central Indiana; at his cabin, commissioners from the state government met in 1820 to determine the site of the new state capital city. Now designated the McCormick Cabin Site, the location is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
