Description: NSF, in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges, hosted the finalists of the fourth annual Community College Innovation Challenge (CCIC) at an “innovation boot camp” in June 2018. The competition encourages community college students to form teams and use science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, to develop solutions to real-world problems. One of the highlights was a reception held in the Indian Treaty Room of the White House, where students had the opportunity to discuss their projects with government leaders including Joan Ferrini-Mundy (left), NSF’s Chief Operating Officer at the time, Michael Kratsios (center), Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer, and France Cordóva (right), NSF Director.
