Description: The south facade, seen from the mall's walking path, of the West Building of the National Gallery of Art. Located on the National Mall, between the 400–700 blocks of Madison Drive, in N.W. Washington, D.C.. The Neoclassical style museum was designed by noted architect John Russell Pope, and built in 1941. The West Building is listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites, and is designated as a contributing property to the National Mall's listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
