Description: Sandstone pillar memorial to Eleanor (Nellie) Towzey Stewart (1858–1931) with bas relief and plaque, Botanic Gardens, Sydney. Bronze bass relief made by Charles Henry Eccles (1938) with text: 'In memory of a beloved Australian actress Nellie Stewart died 21st June 1932.' 'CH Eccles 1938' The bronze records an incorrect year of death - it should be 1931 not 1932. Charles Henry Eccles (British Empire Medal, 1971) (d.29 Jun 1976) was a Sydney based die sinker.
