Description: The New York Times Building at 41 Park Row at Spruce Street in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City was built in 1888-89 and was designed by George B. Post in the Romanesque Revival style to be the headquarters of the New York Times, replacing another building on the same site. The new building was constructed around the existing press room so there would be no interruption in publication of the newspaper. The building was enlarged in 1903-1905 by Robert Maynicke, adding four stories, when the Times moved uptown and sold it. It is now owned by Pace University. (Source: Guide to NYC Landmarks (4th ed.))
