Description: The Unzué Palace, formerly located on the corner of Agüero and Guido streets, in Recoleta, Buenos Aires. Built in 1887, the mansion was designed by Martín Vismara and A. Gonsález for Mariano Unzué. Expropriated in 1938 due to tax debts, the mansion served as the Mitre Public Kindergarten and, from 1942, as the Official Residence of the President of Argentina. First Lady Eva Perón died here in 1952, and following the 1955 overthrow of her widower, President Juan Perón, the mansion was demolished in 1956 during a wave of political revenge against the deposed administration. The main building of the National Library was later built on this site.[1]
