Description: The south facade of the Luxembourg Palace, seat of the French Senate, located in Paris. The palace was built from 1615 to 1631 following the designs of architect Salomon de Brosse. The garden wing shown here was added to the south side of the palace c. 1836 by Alphonse de Gisors. Although Gisors' addition mimics de Brosse's original facade, which it obscured, it differs in significant details. For instance, the decoration around the clock of the central pavilion was produced by the 19th-century Swiss-born French sculptor James Pradier.
