Description: Parachute of André-Jacques Garnerin Postcard featuring a hand-drawn illustrated depiction of the descent of French balloonist André-Jacques Garnerin (1769-1823) in a frameless parachute of his own design. The Official Aeronaut of France, Garnerin staged regular public demonstrations and tests of his designs at Parc Monceau in Paris. 1797-Oct-22 (Date attributed to parachute demonstration) 1909 (Date attributed to postcard) This postcard is part of a set originally collected in a scrapbook entitled Album Gravures et Cartes-Postales: Vieux Paris Types Petits Métiers et Cris De La Rue (1909).
