Description: Pennsylvania Abolition Society - Founded here, 1775, as the Society for the Relief of Free Negroes Unlawfully Held in Bondage. In 1787 it became the Pennsylvania Abolition Society which sought social, educational, and employment opportunities for Blacks. (Historical marker located at S. Front near Walnut Sts.
