Description: The Pennsylvania Company for Insurances on Lives and Granting Annuities Building at 431 Chestnut Street between S. 4th and S. 5th Street in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia was built in 1871-73 and was designed by Addison Hutton. It was part of the city's "Bank Row". (Source: Philadelphia Architecture: A Guide to the City (2nd ed.)) It is now the Constance C. and Edgar P. Richardson Hall of the American Philosophical Society and contains offices and the Philadelphia Area Center for History of Science. (Source: APS website)
