Description: Postally used Machins postage stamps on a piece. Used to mail a Christmas card from the UK to the US. Image is used to illustrate the semi-oval cuts which, combined with gum which is not water-soluble, renders reuse of lightly or uncancelled used stamps difficult. Attempts to remove the stamp from the paper will, unless great care in taken, separate the perforated ovals from the body of the stamp.
