Description: Ptenopus carpi is a species in the Barking Gecko genus Ptenopus. It occurs in sand-desert regions of Namibia, and, like all geckoes, it lacks eyelids. Accordingly, one of its adaptations is to clear its dry cornea of dust by licking it with its tongue, which is long enough to cover the whole eyeball.
