Description: Colonel Robert F. Shaver commanded the 7th Arkansas Infantry Regiment and the 38th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. He commanded a brigade of troops in the Department of the Trans-Mississippi. After the American Civil War he played a prominent role in Klu Klux Klan violence in northeast Arkansas and eventually fled the country to escape punishment for actions during the Reconstruction period. By the late 1900's, former Confederates had returned to power and he was named Major General in charge of the Arkansas State Guards.
