Description: Rosedale (also known as the Uriah Forrest House) located at 3501 Newark Street, NW in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It was built in 1793 by Revolutionary War Colonel Uriah Forrest, thus making it the oldest home in Cleveland Park. A small stone cottage constructed in 1740 was incorporated into the house. Rosedale was owned by Forrest descendents until 1920. It was later purchased by Avery Coonley, owner of Frank Lloyd Wright's Coonley House. Rosedale is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property to the Cleveland Park Historic District.
